  • TSA Agent: Sir, we're going to have to perform a secondary scan on this bag.
  • Me: Ok.
  • TSA: Sir, you cannot have this [toothpaste], it's more than 4 oz.
  • Me: Well it says 4oz on the tube but as you can see, there's about a half an ounce left.
  • TSA: But the tube says 4oz.
  • Me: I see that.
  • TSA: So you are going to have to discard it here or mail it to yourself..
  • Me: It's not 4 ounces though.
  • TSA: It says it is -- it doesn't matter how much is left.
  • Me: So if I have an empty container of something, but says 10 oz, I'd have to throw it away?
  • TSA: Yes.
  • Me: Makes sense
